PRESIDENT Garry Jamieson – APM (Australia Police Medal)


Term of Office: Director since September 2012.

Skills, Experience and Expertise: 
Garry is a retired Inspector of Police and District Officer, having served 38 years with the Queensland Police Force. He has had extensive experience in operational, financial and human resource management at a corporate level.

He holds tertiary qualifications in Justice Administration, Human Resource Management and Business. He has lectured in Law and Police Administration at TAFE. He has extensive experience in and is qualified in all aspects of Disaster Management and has held positions of Disaster District Coordinator.

Garry was awarded the Australian Police Medal, A.P.M. in the 2005 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for leadership and service to country communities. He is also the holder of the National Police Medal, the National Medal and the Queensland Police Service medal.




Term of Office: Director since November 2005.

Skills, Experience and Expertise:
Noel is a retired Royal Australian Air Force Wing Commander engineer. He has a wide range of both experience and expertise in engineering management, training and facilities management.

He was awarded the dignity of Member of the Order of the British Empire for his military achievements and involvement in the community. Noel has been a long-serving member of the Lions organisation resulting in the awarding of a Melvin Jones Fellowship.


DIRECTOR David Patterson


Term of Office: Director since August 2001.

Skills, Experience and Expertise:
Chair of the Finance Committee
David spent 39 years of his working life in the Banking Industry as an Accountant and senior Manager

He and his wife Anne operated a Long Day Child Care Service. David is now an accountant with H&R Block, taxation specialists.


DIRECTOR Dr. Selwyn Brindley


Term of Office: Director since October 2007.

Skills, Experience and Expertise:
Selwyn is a retired Lecturer in Mathematics, Engineering, IT and was Dean of Science and Technology. He holds two Masters Degrees and a PhD from Calgary University, Canada.

He was a director of an Instant Oil Change company and consulted on various projects in Education, Oil Industry and Real Estate. He has consulted on numerous PhD and Masters degrees. Since returning to Australia in 1996 Sel has been treasurer of the Bay Support Service and St James Lutheran Church.


DIRECTOR Lesley Barry

Term of Office: Director since September 2007.

Skills, Experience and Expertise:
Les had a 25 year secondary teaching career in NSW in both the public and private sectors. Apart from teaching qualifications she also attained a Certificate in Workplace Training and Assessment; a Graduate Certificate in Career Education; and a Graduate Diploma in Business – Human Resource Management. Les was a Careers Adviser, a Head Teacher and an Educational Project Co-ordinator.

After relocating to Hervey Bay in 2004 she joined Rotary for ten years where she became the first female president of the club. She received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award for her community work.


DIRECTOR Mick Kruger – OAM (Order of Australia Medal)


Term of Office: Director since September 2012.

Skills, Experience and Expertise:
Mick is the former Mayor of the Fraser Coast Regional Council. Prior to that, he had been on the Hervey Bay City Council for 11 years; 5 years as Deputy Mayor. Mick has wide experience in local government having commenced with the Burrum Shire Council and finished as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Hervey Bay City Council.

Mick has a commitment to community organisations having served on the Boards of the Hervey Bay RSL, Hervey Bay Cultural Trust and Hervey Bay Community Trust. Mick is also a Commissioner for Declarations.



DIRECTOR Norm Edwards


Term of Office: Director since November 2019

Skills, Experience and Expertise:
Norm is a former General Practitioner with over fifty years working in General Medical Practice in both Tasmania and Queensland. His main medical interests included Occupational medicine, Aviation Medicine, Nursing Homes. Underwater Medicine, Geriatrics & Dementia.

Norm retired from General Practice in 2019.

Other interests include Cricket, Golf, Bridge, Bush walking, Music, Stock market and World politics, Travel. History, Genealogy.
